In order to shed the shackles of the “Calamitous Cs” and not be sucked in by the declining negative rhetoric of aging, why not replace them with the three positive “Constructive Cs”? Especially if you’re serious about living a life of continuous incline.
Our goal is to bring people together and look at ways to inspire and sustain a genuine human community.
The mission of Age In America is to demonstrate that we are all essentially the same–human and interesting and imperfect; to dispel the myths and stereotypes about aging; and to help eliminate discrimination of people based on age.
We know what the experience of Alzheimer’s looks like from the outside and its correlation with age is undeniable. We do not know the exact culprit, or combination of culprits, of these experiences; therefore, classing it as a disease to be eradicated is to put the proverbial cart before the horse.
Our culture tells us that the virtues of youth will always reign supreme and that aging is and must always be equal to decline. Looking back at my career, I have spent too much time insisting that it really isn’t all that bad if we all just look at the bright side!
As we prep for the second half of the Age of Disruption Tour this October and November we’re working on a three-pronged community outreach strategy to engage with local “changing aging” allies.
