[Image via Nordic Wiccan]Do you suffer from sudden-onset cronery? Are you into mountain mastery? Well, I hate to break it to you, but you might just be exhibiting (or not-exhibiting?) an invisible sign of aging. There’s a longer list compiled by the ever-clever Mallory Ortberg at The Toast, but here are a few of my favorites:
Secret river awareness
Moral bankruptcy
Night independence
Dreams of murders that happen the next day in real life
Fires immediately go out when you enter the room
Sudden-onset cronery
Increased levels of both whimsy and malice
Redefined beauty
Poisonously afraid of a fresh shock of wheat or a handsome young priest
It’s tongue-in-cheek, and drawn from (as far as I can tell) mainly Wiccan and folklore references.
Take a peek at the list and share – what are some of your invisible signs of aging?
i think you are talking to the wrong audience. making obscure wican folklore references aren’t funny just because you know what they mean. i don’t think this is really meaningful to the very real problem of agism.
I totally agree with the other poster. Your remarks have no resonance with me. I would prefer to hear from someone who either has been close to a person in their later years or is in their later years. Anyone else doesn’t understand what it’s like to grow old. It takes an inordinate amount of courage.
Hmmmm…..somehow I don’t get it.
It is tongue-in-cheek.
Yes, I knew that. Just didn’t get it. Although I don’t have a way to know, I somehow think you’re too young to understand what it’s like to grow old. (But do appreciate your efforts!).
