The social world is greying. There is a longevity revolution intersecting with a demographic explosion. And, it’s happening all over the world. An age wave is approaching. Everything is up for grabs again! Only this time, some of the grabbers, who are reinventing the social sphere, are wrinkled and grey. They are old for short, but old in a new, as yet undefined, way.
Growing An Elder Culture is our way (Donald True (68), Alexandra Hart (74) and myself, David “Lucky” Goff (66)) of trying to make sense of ageing today, and aiding a movement toward a freer more fulfilling latter part of life. Join us on the second Thursday of each month, from 2 to 4 pm. (PST), for a fresh look at how ageing offers a kind of gratification, that surprises a lot of people with genuine happiness. We feature lively discussion, relevant guests and thought-provoking moments.
Elders are amongst us. They hold for us, some of our unknown human potential. This program could be a news broadcast. The news is good. There is, latent in our species ageing, a kind of wisdom and new capabilities that change the game. Freedom is being re-defined. Most of this is unknown because ageing has resided in the shadows, with too little known about what some old people are capable of. Thanks to KOWS that is no longer true. This is an example of the new, innovative, and informative programming that is originating with KOWS support.
Listen in. Hear what passes for a new life. Stream us live on your computer by going to the KOWs website (kowsfm.com). You can hear some of our previous programs at our website (www.elderculture.com). Plan on becoming more alive, real, your self, free, in addition to retiring. The times they are a’changing!

Dec. 11 Dr. Bill Thomas (Geriatrician), What Are Old People For?
Subject: His work with the aging in general
A thoroughly engrossing concept and one which gives hope to those aging, often in negative circumstances. The authors, Bill Thomas and David Goff definitely are changing, slowly, ideas about aging and giving new ideas and possibilities. Frequently, when a family member gets “older”, an effort is made to find a elder home for them, ignoring the fact that with careful planning, the aging member could be of a big benefit to the family. New ideas such as “senior centers without walls”, are an important part of this. The writing about these ideas by the excellent writers as important and counted on for changing aging and a good demonstration of the value of this post.
I am 73 years and find these communications very valuable. I am part of research projects about the use of technology by older persons, have been editor of several journal issues about elderly, and enjoy collaborating with others. As a reminder, the American Society on aging conference is in Chicago, on March 23-27, 2015.
