In about two minutes I’m taking the stage to give the keynote address at the 7th Annual Conference on Aging in Allegany County, N.Y. The theme of the conference is “The State of Aging” and I’m pleased that the organizers, the Allegany/Western Steuben Rural Health Network, Inc, specifically asked me to speak about how social media is changing the state of aging.
This is a topic I’m very passionate about and look forward to sharing with this audience what we’re doing with the ChangingAging Blogstream to harness the power of social media to change the way society views aging.
In addition, I thought it would be fun to do a quick demonstration of the power of mobile social media to share new voices with the world. Just minutes ago, I used my iPhone to interview two of the conference organizers — Melissa Williams and Helen Evans of the Allegany County Area Office of Aging. I asked them to share their thoughts on social media.
Using iMovie for iPhone, I uploaded the videos to YouTube and with a little help from ChangingAging Editor Kavan Peterson, I’m able to show these videos to the audience here in New York, as well as the rest of the world. Enjoy:
