In September Dr. Bill put out an announcement that he was looking for a graphic artist to help design a boffo cover for his upcoming novel, “Tribes of Eden.”
Thanks to everyone who shared the announcement and offered recommendations. We’re pleased to announce that Jonas LaRance, creator of ChangingAging’s new logo, has joined our team as graphic artist to help produce “Tribes of Eden.”
We are now in the exciting phase of developing cover art and we’d like to offer ChangingAging readers an exclusive first look at some of the concepts our team has developed. Be advised these are simply concept sketches, not finished illustrations, so the final versions will be more polished and use different images.
The teaser image above was Jonas’ first inspiration for the art. Based on that image, he developed three cover versions for the book.
You can view the three covers in the slideshow below. If you would like to offer feedback please follow these guidelines:
- Please compose your reaction before reading other comments or feedback posted below — we want your unbiased opinion.
- Describe your reaction to each slide. What do you like or dislike? Why? Which one is your favorite? Why?
- Describe your demographic and reading habits — you don’t have to be specific, we’re looking for general marketing age ranges and gender.
You are invited to share your comments on the blog below or to email them directly to [email protected]

No. 1 reminds me of a romance novel, too busy! No. 2: think the image is too small, I much prefer No.3, it looks more contemporary and intriguing. Like the font better on 3 as well. I am a Medicare age female. I read both nonfiction and fiction but I prefer fiction that gives me something I can learn, never something I am afraid of/for.
After reviewing the three covers, I prefer the third one. I believe the first one is simply too busy, almost futuristic in appearance. I think the second looks like it was for a romance story on a ranch somewhere. The third one grabs me more, I like the way it is grounded and the use of the silhouette for the girl on the horse. I read a lot of novels, everything from legal and/or medical drama to some sci-fi. However I haven’t purchased any print books for over a year, as I do all of my reading now through e-books. This has expanded the realm of what I read, as I depend more on the titles and an overview of the book to draw my interest than I did previously.
