Dr. Richard Taylor is quickly establishing himself as the most important voice around for a new approach to caring for those who live with dementia. But Richard will quickly tell you that he is not the voice of dementia; he is only one voice, and even that can change from day to day.
Keeping with this philosophy, Richard works tirelessly to give voice to all of those who have had little or none in most of our traditional discourses on dementia. In a landmark move, Richard has now introduced a new journal, The Voices of Dementia. This represents, in my view, the very first periodical publication on dementia written by the true experts–those who live with the condition and understand it from the “inside out”.
In the inaugural edition (posted here on Changing Aging), you can hear Richard’s thoughts and his requests for input from people around the world. You will also find ”letters to the Editor” looking for advice and input, links to a multitude of resources, commentaries and calls to action.
This journal needs to grow. It needs to be sitting on university bookshelves, along with the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA.
Please read it and send your thougts and words of support.
