Miami-Dade County Deputy Mayor, Russell Benford, attended Sunrise’s appreciation celebration hosted at our Adult Day Care Center off of Eighth Street in West Miami. Other esteemed Miami-Dade officials in attendance included Lucia Davis-Raiford, Director of Community Action and Human Services as well as Betty Jimenez, Senior Advocate for Elders for Miami-Dade County.
The ADC Center provides care and support for seniors with Alzheimer’s, Dementia and other acquired- cognitive disabilities. Services are designed to provide social and limited health services to older adults who need supervised care in a safe place outside the home during the day.
The recognition celebration also included artwork and other hand-made items created by the elders who attend the day programming. Event highlights included a brief overview of the elders’ daily activities such as rumba, dance, and aerobics along with ample opportunities to socialize with the individuals who directly benefit from the County’s “bridge-funding” grant (which covers the “gap” in services while applying for Medicare eligibility.)
On behalf of the individuals and families we serve, thank you to Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners and our Mayor for investing in the lives of elders!!
