Here is an innovative approach that meshes the theory and practice of ballet with the challenge of maintaining and enjoying balance and movement in late life.
Welcome to my blog where I will share my thoughts, ideas and experiences with the Benevolent Ballet Fall Prevention f
or the Elderlyprogram. For those who are not familiar with the program it is an approach to exercise for the old and very old that is inspired by classical ballet’s music and movements. Incorporated into this program is a motivational approach using what may be called ’empathic engagement’ . One day training seminars for healthcare staff have been held throughout the US. I have personally facilitated the program in assisted living, skilled nursing facilities and independent living communities.
The strikethrough is my edit.
As noted, the “Benevolent Ballet Fall Prevention for the Elderly program.”
Could just as easily be “Benevolent Ballet Fall Prevention.”
There is no need to suggest, nor is it true that only old sick, demented and weak people can benefit from this approach. I think it would be helpful for people with a wide range of abilities, interests and capacities.
