It’s been 15 days since I started Bikram yoga and I have not lost a single pound, despite keeping my calorie level just barely above what it was. I should have lost 1-2 pounds. That is what I would have lost if I was not doing Bikram. However, I have dropped 2% body fat. My calculations say that means I have exchanged 2 pounds of fat for 2 pounds of muscle. This is a new experience for me, since this is the most challenging exercise program I have ever done. It will be interesting to see when the muscle building quits. I am sure at some point my body will be as muscular as it needs to be to do Bikram well – at least the “beginner” class, which performs the 26 pose sequence exactly the same every day.
As for me, I prefer this kind of Crone.
