1. Eden Alternative first time in nine years on Swiss National TV
2. The Swiss version of the Shabaz = Life Assistant (Lebensassistentin) gets attention in a Swiss women’s magazine
1. In a widely watched discussion show on Swiss National TV last Tuesday the topic was suicide and suicide prevention in old age. Switzerland has one of the highest incidents of suicides in the world and the worrying news is that older people take their lives because of depression, loneliness, uselessness, fear of pain and suffering, fear of „ending up in a nursing home“. I was invited to participate and in a few statements was able to convey the Eden message: social connectedness, the value of an old person, the value of human caring, the obligation of society not to let people disappear from „society’s radar“ before they have died (citing Bill Thomas). A few feedbacks made me realise that many old people „out there“ are waiting for a message of hope, the Eden message.

2. Petra Kröni, our pioneering teacher and educator of the European version of the universal worker or Shabaz or Life Assistant, was interviewed by „Annabelle“, a widely read Swiss women’s magazine. She describes the professional and at the same time compassionate approach to providing good care and quality of life. Another first for Eden in Europe. View photo and interview (in German) here:
