The inestimable Ilene Cummings shared some thoughts on my TED talk in response to my post TEDxSF Alive! Living a Life Out of Balance:
Bill, I praise you for the work you do. Many bravos!!You asked for feedback on your talk in San Francisco. Wish I could be there to hear you! Also have lots of stuff to say myself. But here goes: I am not as keen on life out of balance as, another way to live.
I will be 80 in July and have spent considerable deep contemplation/introspection on the truth of this “being 80 reality”. I feel very, very strongly that this next decade is the biggest decade of my life. This is the time for which everything else has been but, a preparation. Something richer, more artful and stunning is happening inside me now. It is as if I have become my own cloister. I am a safe place to go. My eightyness is hitting me with a diamond laser that is inviting me to finally know who I am and what I have given over a lifetime of hard work. Finding this self-understanding is, for me, truly another way to live.
I am extremely engaging, friendly, outgoing, and active- have 5 children that I talked to ALL the time on the phone, still do p/t work I love, and am engaged with popular culture ie. Lady Gaga!! But my biggest activity is by far, inside me! I attribute that to the inner revelations that are showing up as I “finally” sit still. It is personal growth dearest Bill, it is all personal growth.
It is indeed, another way to live. For me, now, it is the only way to live. with love and grace, Ilene Cummings
ps. good luck with your talk, I know you will be fabulous!
