Eden Alternative’s value-added partner WellAWARE Systems, the developer of breakthrough technology to monitor vital wellness indicators such as sleep quality and bathroom visits, has announced a major expansion with Volunteers of America (VOA), a major player in elder housing serving 2 million people in more than 400 communities.
VOA first started using WellAWARE monitoring technology in its assisted living and memory care neighborhoods. The immediate impact on resident’s wellness and operational efficiencies were so positive that VOA quickly decided to use the state-of-the-art technology throughout every segment of their care continuum, including assisted living, independent living, memory care and more than 1,200 skilled nursing beds.
“After our initial launch of WellAWARE we quickly realized care quality and operational efficiencies that made a significant impact to our resident’s wellness and our business,” said Wayne Olson, VOA Senior VP of Healthcare Operations. ”We are now seeing the same results as we launch this state-of-the-art technology into the skilled nursing setting.”
WellAWARE‘s monitoring system uses unobtrusive and highly accurate sensors and software to monitor and report on vital health indicators. This data can alert caregivers to emerging health conditions, such as disturbed sleep or frequent bathroom visits. It’s especially valuable in cases where the resident may not be able to report such symptoms themselves, Olson said.
“As we continue to roll out through our skilled nursing communities we are finding WellAWARE to be the voice for those who cannot self-report in long term care,” Olson said.
